Big Changes this Summer
Dear Patients and Friends,
Summer is here– bringing warm evenings, pool time and lots of changes at your Dental Office!! I wanted to let you know about a few exciting new things that are going on here in Suite 240.
First and foremost, our long time Hygienist, Joyce, is reducing her schedule, going from a 4-day workweek to a 2-day workweek. I know this news makes many of you sad because you have been accustomed to seeing Joyce for your cleanings for the past 25 years! Fortunately, she is still working on Mondays and Tuesdays and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. There are many other wonderful Hygienists here in the office, so I ask you to be flexible about the practitioner you see and try someone new. It will not be possible for all of Joyce’s patients to continue to see her on a regular basis.
Fortunately, I have hired a fantastic new Hygienist, Michele, who will be seeing patients full time, 4 days per week starting in July. Michele has been a hygienist for close to twenty years and brings great experience to the office. Adding Michele to our staff will ultimately allow for more “hygiene time” each week which means greater flexibility in scheduling cleaning appointments.
Many of you know that our Hygienist, Sydney, is on her maternity leave and is expecting a baby boy any day now! Sydney will be returning in October to see patients part time. Please bear with us as we are establishing our short- and long-term Hygiene schedules over the summer months, and may need to reschedule or move appointments. Stephanie, Carol and Inessa are the other vital members of our Hygiene team and will all be seeing patients 1-3 days per week.
Another big change is that I have taken over the dental practice of Dr. Laurie Hanschu, the dentist whom I’ve shared my office with for the past 14 years. She has now become a part-time Associate Dentist, working for me 2 days per week. This will also allow for greater flexibility in scheduling, and you may have the option to see her for urgent problems, routine exams with cleanings or general dental procedures. Dr. Hanschu has been a practicing dentist for over 30 years and she’s also my dentist! She has tremendous expertise in many areas of general dentistry.
One more bit of news– many of you have met Christina, one of our Registered Dental Assistants (RDA), who has worked here in the office for almost 25 years. Christina is nearly done with a year-long program to receive her Expanded Function (RDAEF) license. This means she can perform procedures on patients such as filling placement, crown placement and adjustment, and many more things. I am so excited for her to have the opportunity to perform many of the duties she’s been observing and assisting with for so long. Dr. Hanschu and I have been mentoring Christina throughout her schooling and we will continue to oversee her work.
I hope that you all continue to receive a high level of service from myself and my staff, as I consider that my highest priority. Jennifer, Tina and Trina will continue to assist you with all insurance and administrative needs and please reach out if you have any questions.
Wishing you and your families a wonderful summer!
Best,
Stefanie Shore, DDS and Staff
