Digital X-Rays
January has been a bit of a rollercoaster month for us here at the office. As some of our patients already know, we installed a digital x-ray system, along with 2 computer monitors in every treatment room. We had a few bumpy weeks of x-rays getting “lost” and computers shutting down, but now I can say with confidence that we are becoming a digital office!
The transition is exciting: digital x-rays have better clarity, more contrast and use less radiation than traditional films. It’s been difficult learning the tricks of how to position a digital sensor instead of film, but the assistants and hygienists and jumped in feet first! I really want to thank all of my staff for embracing this new technology and being more than willing to try everything. Now I just have to become an expert at reading the films!
This is just the first step in becoming a paperless office. Our goal is to have no more paper charts. This will help us be a little greener and open up some space in our front area for more workstations. It will be a long transition as we decide how to navigate these uncharted waters! I want to thank our great patients, as well, for being so understanding during our transitions. We are always working toward making our practice better and more modern.
Yours in good (dental) health,
Dr. Stefanie Shore, DDS
